Call local stores to check toy stock
A writer used Gemini's calling feature to phone local stores about a Labubu figure and got text or email summaries of availability, price and hours.
What they did
After striking out at a few stores herself, the writer tapped the "Have AI check availability" button under a store listing in Google's AI Mode in Search Labs. She answered a few questions about the toy and how far she would travel. Gemini then phoned the store using Duplex and identified itself as an AI. She didn't listen in.
How it went
About 40 minutes later she got a message confirming Labubu figures were in stock, with pricing and store hours. The toy was being shipped, and she hadn't received it when she wrote.
Worth knowing
It's an experimental Search Labs feature for US users, with higher limits for AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. Businesses can opt out of AI calls.
